The Sixth Bowl Of Wrath
(Revelation 16:12-16)
12 The sixth angel poured his bowl on the great river Euphrates, and its water was dried up, to prepare the way for the kings from the east. 13 And I saw, issuing from the mouth of the dragon and from the mouth of the beast and from the mouth of the false prophet, three foul spirits like frogs; 14 for they are demonic spirits, performing signs, who go abroad to the kings of the whole world, to assemble them for battle on the great day of God the Almighty. 15 ("Lo, I am coming like a thief! Blessed is he who is awake, keeping his garments that he may not go naked and be seen exposed!") 16 And they assembled them at the place which is called in Hebrew Armageddon. (Revelation 16:12-16)1

Aside from the demonic spirits deceiving the world, and the drying of the Euphrates no great physical disaster seems to take place during the Sixth Bowl. And yet it is one of the bowls of God’s wrath. Lies are not to be underestimated. Lying breaks the ninth commandment (Exodus 20:16). Those who love not God will find the demonic persuasion everything they believe in and hope for. They will oppose God and bring judgment upon themselves. It is imperative that believers be alert, aware and ready before this event. Those not prepared will be caught short and put to shame. (Click for a deeper look at the meaning of these verses.)
Note: Paul tells us that rejection of the truth leaves one open to falsehood (2 Thessalonians 2:10-11). The RSV translates verse 11 as Therefore God sends upon them a strong delusion, to make them believe what is false,
. The Greek for strong delusion
is ενεργειαν (energeia) πλανης (planay) actually energy/efficiency of error/falsehood.
It is not God deluding people, but rather God allowing people continue on the course they have chosen. It is God confirming their choice. When one rejects the truth, there is no other choice but falsehood. In mathematics there is usually only one answer. All others are wrong. In life, there is usually one truth. All others are chaos.

Numeric Features
The Words
The numeric features in this passage certify that the text is to be trusted. This is the vision God gave to Jesus, and Jesus gave to John to show what would happen (Revelation 1:1). The events are guaranteed to happen. Ignore them at your own peril.
1.1.1There are 111 words. 111 is a numeric representation of the one God who is, was and is to come (Revelation 1:8). The sum of its factors (3 x 37) is 40, and the number 40 is filled with biblical meaning: testing or trials, and or referring to a generation. This would seem appropriate for the Sixth Bowl.
1.1.2There are 571 letters. This is a prime number with no factors other than itself and one. Thus 571 + 1 = 572 (2 x 2 x 11 x 13). Hidden on this next level are the numbers 11 (one God first and last) and 13 (a factor from the value of God's name in Hebrew). Although the number of words and letters are not divisible by seven and thirteen, evidence of God's hand in the prophecy can still be seen.
1.1.3The numeric total of the passage: 37821 = 3 x 7 x 1801.
1.2Following the pattern of Revelation 1:8 as seen in The Proclamation, the first and last letters together have a numeric feature.
1.2.1The positions of the first and last letters of each word: 60354 = 2 x 32 x 7 x 479. SF: 494 = 2 x 13 x 19.
1.2.2The values of the first and last letters of each word: 14147 = 7 x 43 x 47.
1.2.3Although the positions of the first letter of each word has no feature, there is one just for the last letter of each word: 30407 = 13 x 2339. SF: 2352 = 24 x 3 x 72.
The first and last letters of each word do not have numeric features individually because this is a prophecy about the world and about people. It is not about God.
1.2.4The categorization of the first and last letters of each word can be refined by applying a second principle from Revelation 1:8, that of complementary opposites. Take the first and last letters of odd positioned words: 7798 = 2 x 7 x 557.
1.2.5Take the first and last letters of even positioned words: 6349 = 7 x 907. In this case the first and last letters can be further subdivided.
1.2.5.1The first letter of even positioned words: 3402 = 2 x 35 x 7.
1.2.5.2The last letter of even positioned words: 2947 = 7 x 421.
1.2.6.1Recategorize the words a different way. All words that have odd valued first and last letters: 2562 = 2 x 3 x 7 x 61.
1.2.6.2All words that have even valued first and last letters: 22281 = 3 x 7 x 1061. SF: 1071 = 32 x 7 x 17.
1.2.6.3This means the two together would also be divisible by seven: 2562 + 22281 = 24843 = 3 x 72 x 132 When put together there are extra factors of seven and thirteen.
1.2.6.4The positions of these words: 3724 = 22 x 72 x 19.
1.2.7The previous features categorized words by first and last letters that were both odd valued, or both even valued. The remaining words would be those of "mixed" values (odd and even, or even and odd): 12978 = 2 x 32 x 7 x 103.

It would have been perfect if the words and letters in Isaiah 18 could be applied into Revelation 16:12-16. Perhaps this is because the phrase, the kings of the east
is more of a known quantity than the descriptions in Isaiah 18. It is more logical to apply what is known to deduce what might not be known.
China
6.1The previous study on Isaiah 18 concluded that China was the nation that brought gifts to God. Can this be seen here? The modern Hebrew word for China is סין (Syna). These Hebrew letters have the values 60, 10 and 50 for a total of 120. (Note: Hebrew is read from right to left, but the numbers are presented left to right.) These three Hebrew letters can be used twice to count through the words of the combined passages of Isaiah 18, and Revelation 16:12-16. On the second the count, the very last letter 50 will overshoot the number of words. It wraps around to the beginning of the combined passages. (If we only allow complete sets of the Hebrew letters for China, and no overshooting the number of words in the text, the count would have ended at the 120th word, less than half the combined passage. This would cover too little of the text.)

6.2.2The Hebrew letters (60-10-50) for China can also be used specifically for the Sixth Bowl. Search for these letters in the Greek text. The fourth letter of Revelation 16:12-16 has the value 60. After the fourth letter, the sixth letter has the value 10. And after the sixth letter, the eleventh letter has the value 50. Thus the positions of the first appearance
of letters having the values of China in Hebrew total 21 (3 x 7).
6.2.3The previous feature only examined Revelation 16:12-16 and looked at the positions of letters with values spelling out China in Hebrew. Here we look at those letters and not their positions. When Isaiah 18 and Revelation 16:12-16 are combined, it is possible to find seven sets of letters with values spelling out China. There is an incomplete eighth set consisting only of the letters 60 and 10. Seven complete sets would naturally be divisible by seven. This is nothing special. However, if the incomplete set is included, the total would be 910 (2 x 5 x 7 x 13) with an extra factor of thirteen.
6.3In the previous two features (6.2.1 & 6.2.2), the text of Isaiah was placed before the text of Revelation, because the book of Isaiah was written first. However, the people bringing gifts to God in Isaiah 18 would have to be after Armageddon. Thus it is possible to place the text of Revelation 16:12-16 before the text of Isaiah 18. Since we now have Greek before Hebrew, we use the Greek spelling of China. China, in Greek is Κινα. The numeric values of the Greek letters are 10-9-40-1, with a total of 60. (It is curious how the Greek is exactly half the value of the Hebrew.)
6.3.1These four Greek letters are used three times to count through the words of the combined passage. (If the letters were used four times to count through the words, two of the letters, or half of the spelling of China in Greek would exceed the number of words.)

6.3.3Similar to 6.2.3, fifteen sets of the four Greek letters can be found in the passage when Revelation 16:12-16 is placed before Isaiah 18. The sixteenth incomplete set has only one letter, 10. The total of all these letters is once again 910 = 2 x 5 x 7 x 13.
The skeptic would point out that for the Hebrew spelling of China, we allowed the count to overshoot, but changed the rules for the Greek to undershoot the length of the text. But Greek is not Hebrew, and the languages are written in opposite directions. The order of the combined text was changed as well. This difference is why counting with the Greek is not allowed to overshoot. These changes are necessary when the language changes, as can be seen in the next feature.
6.4In Chinese, China is 中國. The numeric values of these two characters are 101 and 3243. The second number is so large it will overshoot the number of words and letters of the combined passage even if only one set of the characters is used. If 中國 is to be used to count, the question is how many sets should be used. The most obvious answer would be seven or thirteen sets.

In hindsight, since 7 is less than 13, and the number of words is less than the number of letters, 7 sets of 中國 are applied to the words, and 13 sets are applied to the letters. This changes for the Chinese characters for God which are already divisible by 13.
6.4.3The Chinese term for the one supreme God is 上帝 (Cantonese: Seung Dai.) These two characters have the values 24 and 1939. Like the Hebrew name for God, their total is divisible by 13. The two numbers can be used seven times to count through the words of the combined passage (Isaiah 18 is placed before Revelation 16:12-16).

6.5.3Unlike the Hebrew and Greek in features 6.2.3 and 6.3.3, the eleven sets of Russian letter values found in the text (Revelation placed before Isaiah) have no feature. The feature is in their positions: 33656 = 23 x 7 x 601.
The features identifying China as a major subject of the prophecies are not as consistent as one would have hoped.4 But this is because the prophecy is about people and nations, not about God. People can hardly be expected to match the perfection of God. Even so, these features show it is highly likely the kings of the east
refers to the unnamed land (China) in Isaiah 18 and that China will honour God with gifts. Revelation 16:12-16 is only preparatory to the kings of the east
but no details are given. Whatever they intended or were planning, they are either upstaged or deceived by the Beast. After Armageddon, these kings realize they must honour God.
Conclusion
The two passages work so well together it would seem Isaiah 18 and Revelation 16:12-16 were made for each other. Each passage could stand on its own, or stand together. When they stand together, they produce new numeric features. Standing by itself, the numbers in the passage on the Sixth Bowl confirm God’s wrath is real. It is to be avoided at all costs. The wrath of the Beast and Satan is only temporary, and ultimately ineffective. The lies they preach must not be accepted. Hold to God’s Word to avoid God’s wrath (Revelation 3:10, 19:13). That is what is real.
The Seven Bowls Of Wrath
The Sixth Bowl passage sits within the larger section of Revelation describing all Seven Bowls. This is from Revelation 15:5 to 16:21. There are a total of 25 verses, 563 words, and 2671 letters.5 The number of numeric features is actually less than those contained in the Sixth Bowl. This is because the wrath of God is only a part of the entire picture, and only a limited portion of God’s character. If there had been a tremendous number of numeric features one might begin to think God was a wrathful being, and this would completely contradict vast sections of the Bible.6

The Words
7.2.1First and last letters of each word: 68691 = 3 x 7 x 3271. (Both first and last letters have to stand together before there is a feature. The passage is about God’s wrath, not about God’s full character.)
7.2.2The last letter of each word could be considered the first letter from the end of the word. An examination of the first, second, third (and so on) letter of each word, from the beginning and end, finds only two that are divisible by seven.
7.2.2.1The fourth letter of each word: 25088 = 29 x 72
7.2.2.2The ninth letter from the end of each word: 1134 = 2 x 34 x 7. SF: 21 = 3 x 7.
Why are the fourth and ninth letters the only ones that are divisible by seven? Perhaps it is because 4 + 9 = 13.

Note how the positions of the odd valued words work out to a total divisible by seven, but the positions of the even valued words work out to thirteen. I believe the lack of paired features, or inconsistency in this case shows that the wrath of God is only a part of God’s character, and should not overshadow the many verses where the Bible tells us God is love, justice and righteousness.

The numeric features found in the Seven Bowls of Wrath prove this is a part of God’s plan for the future. There is no escaping judgment and justice because Jesus said not one dot from the law would pass away until all was fulfilled (Matthew 5:18). We might not like it, but we also don't like sin and wickedness either. God will make all things new, and the Seven Bowls of Wrath are a part of the process (Revelation 21:5).

This is not an endorsement of the Jehovah's Witnesses. This book was one of the few available at a time when interlinear translations were rare, expensive, and at a time when funds were scarce. - Hebrew, Greek, Chinese and Russian just so happened to be the first four languages tried in attempting to show China was the subject of Isaiah 18 and Revelation 16:12-16. - The number of words and letters, 563 and 2671, are both prime numbers. They have two curious coincidences. The two added together total 3234 (2 x 3 x 72 x 11). There are two factors of seven. And since the Sixth Bowl mentions the kings from the direction of the rising sun, one could consider these prime numbers as indicating Chinese characters in Big5. The 563rd Big5 character is 局 (office; situation). The 2671th character is 渙 (to dissipate; to dissolve). Thus 局渙 would seem to mean
the office is dissolved
orthe situation is dissipated.
In other words, the Seven Bowls of God’s wrath bring an end to the old world order. - Properly speaking Revelation chapters 15 and 16 are devoted to the Seven Bowls. However, if the first four verses of chapter 15 were included, there would be no numeric features. These four verses are actually an introduction to the topic and can be left out.
Note 1: Only verses describing the Third, Sixth and Seventh Bowls are divisible by seven. The rest of the bowls have no numeric features on their own.
Note 2: The Greek text is from the GNT, with textual variants dropped in Revelation 15:6, and 16:6.
Note 3: The high number of numeric features in the Sixth Bowl sets it apart from all the others. It is the only one where Jesus issues a warning to be alert and ready. Catastrophes do not endanger the believer. Satan's lies are what endanger the believer (Matthew 24:24). They must not be accepted.
