Forgiving Sin
Forgiveness is wondrous and beautiful. To forgive is to deny a part of oneself in favour of regaining a relationship with someone else (Matthew 16:24). It is to give of oneself to restore another (Luke 9:24). The highest forgiveness is to sacrifice oneself (John 15:13). It is an act of love, and fulfills the law (Mark 12:31). That is why God finds the death of His saints so precious (Psalm 116:15).
Reminder: Jesus warns those who do not forgive that God will not forgive them either (Matthew 6:14-15).
The authority to forgive sins was a revolutionary break from the sacrificial system, and yet it was a continuation and fulfillment of prophecy. The forerunner was John the Baptist, who preached a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins (Mark 1:4). John the Baptist said God would forgive those who repented. Jesus took it further. The numbers Numerics Gematria, like the miracles Jesus did, prove Jesus had the authority to forgive sins.
Forgiveness is so much a part of Christianity there are six segments of text with Exodus 34:6-7 features in the GNS and GNT supporting this topic.
There is a seventh segment that deals with unpardonable sin: blasphemy against the Holy Spirit (Mark 3:24-29), and an eighth passage which warns people not to wait too long before seeking forgiveness. The Bible, and the numbers Numerics Gematria would be remiss in not reminding believers that there is a limit.
The Son Of Man’s Authority To Forgive Sin
And behold, some of the scribes said to themselves, "This man is blaspheming." But Jesus, knowing their thoughts, said, "Why do you think evil in your hearts? For which is easier, to say, `Your sins are forgiven,' or to say, `Rise and walk'? But that you may know that the Son of man has authority on earth to forgive sins" he then said to the paralytic "Rise, take up your bed and go home." And he rose and went home. When the crowds saw it, they were afraid, and they glorified God, who had given such authority to men. (Matthew 9:3-81)

The two words dropped at the beginning are not essential to the meaning of the text. Dropping three from the end leaves open the scope of who is given this authority.

Confirmation Of The Son Of Man's Authority
The ability to forgive sin is vital to the Christian message, and absolutely essential to Jesus' ministry. Drop 18 words from the beginning and 8 words from the end.
Removing the words from the beginning turns the start of the segment into a question that should be meditated upon in the heart. This is where Jesus' words should be evaluated. And without the closing words of verse 10, Jesus' authority takes precedence without being limited to earth.

How Many Times Should We Forgive?
Peter asked if forgiving his brother seven times was sufficient and Jesus told him seventy-seven times (Matthew 18:21-22).
Note that Peter did not say, and Jesus also did not say this applied to neighbours or strangers. This applied to a brother.
Some people assume it applies to neighbours and strangers. But that is not in the text.
Then Peter came up and said to him,Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? As many as seven times?Jesus said to him,I do not say to you seven times, but seventy times seven.(Matthew 18:21-22)

Begin with the fourth word of verse 21, and drop the last word of verse 22.
The numeric segment begins with Peter asking a question, omitting the extraneous information that he came to Jesus. The segment ends with seventy times, leaving out the last seven, but this does not change the essential meaning of the text. Peter is supposed to be way more forgiving than he thought he should be.

Seven words are dropped from the beginning. In English, the opening looks like an incomplete sentence or thought, but this is not the case in the original Greek. Greek verbs are conjugated to indicate who is speaking (first person, second person, or third person). The segment also opens with the Greek word and
which does not even appear in English, and this creates a complete phrase in Greek.
Three words are dropped from the end: and he taught them.
This extra information can be removed without turning the preceding phrase into an incomplete thought. Why Jesus Forgives (Luke 7:46-50 GNT)
Jesus forgives because of love, and Jesus forgives because he loves us. And the principle of forgiveness is that the one who is forgiven a lot, will love him more. Faith is a part of forgiveness. And the passage closes with a second principle. Forgiveness brings peace.
You did not anoint my head with oil, but she has anointed my feet with ointment. Faithful To Forgive (1 John 1:7-9)
Since forgiveness is so vital to the believer, God has also given assurance to us of forgiveness.

Keep only the last nine words of verse 7.
The numeric segment begins with the end of verse 7: Christ his son cleanses us from all sin.
(The GNS has the word Christ, while the RSV does not.) It focuses on what happens if we sin. Jesus cleanses us if we confess and repent.
Just because the numeric section does not include walk in the light
does not mean this is not important. Throughout the New Testament, confession is always followed by repentance. This is understood. Repentance is changing and walking in the light.

Unpardonable Sin (Mark 3:24-29)
If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. And if a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand. And if Satan has risen up against himself and is divided, he cannot stand, but is coming to an end. But no one can enter a strong man's house and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man; then indeed he may plunder his house. Truly, I say to you, all sins will be forgiven the sons of men, and whatever blasphemies they utter; but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin. (Mark 3:24-29)
Jesus refutes his accusers' claims that he was allied with the devil. It makes no sense for Satan to cast out his own demons. The only way Jesus could defeat the devil and his demons was if he was backed by God, and not only by God, but also by the Holy Spirit. (John the Baptist made it clear he saw the Holy Spirit descend on Jesus and remain [John 1:32].) And to say Jesus had an unclean spirit was blasphemy, maligning the Holy Spirit that was in him. The numeric features on Jesus' words affirm the truth of what he said.
Aside from warning about blasphemy against the Holy Spirit, this text segment also serves another purpose. It disproves the theory of the Trinity.
Jesus made it quite clear in this passage. Almost all sin and blasphemy is forgivable, including those against the son of man
(Matthew 12:32). But blaspheming against the Holy Spirit carries eternal consequences that cannot be forgiven. Surely if Jesus meant to include God, he would have said but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit and God (the Father) never has forgiveness.
He would have warned people it applied to God. But he did not. The implication is that blaspheming against God the Father is forgivable.
The theory of the Trinity contradicts what Jesus taught. If God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit were one, blaspheming against God or Jesus would be the same as blaspheming the Holy Spirit. But Jesus did not say blasphemy against him was unforgivable.
Holding the theory of the Trinity requires mental gymnastics to somehow exclude God the Father and Jesus from the Holy Spirit to allow this verse to stand. And yet at the same time one has to continue reiterating and insisting that the three are one. It makes no sense.
The numbers Numerics Gematria associated with this text segment assure us Jesus' statement is important and to be taken literally. It is logical and reasonable.

The Closing Door (Hebrews 12:11-17)
Although God's forgiveness is wide and deep and Jesus remains faithful to forgive, there is one other warning besides blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. The way or door to forgivness will not always be open. It is not God or Jesus who changes, but the heart of the unbeliever. It becomes fixed, and passes the point where any true repentance is possible. Such was the case of Esau.
For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant; later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it. Therefore lift your drooping hands and strengthen your weak knees, and make straight paths for your feet, so that what is lame may not be put out of joint but rather be healed. Strive for peace with all men, and for the holiness without which no one will see the Lord. See to it that no one fail to obtain the grace of God; that no "root of bitterness" spring up and cause trouble, and by it the many become defiled; that no one be immoral or irreligious like Esau, who sold his birthright for a single meal. For you know that afterward, when he desired to inherit the blessing, he was rejected, for he found no chance to repent, though he sought it with tears. (Hebrews 12:11-17)

Conclusion
Three of these seven passages establish Jesus' authority and power to forgive sins. The reason is because God loved us, and Jesus embodied that love. So powerful is that love we are assured forgiveness if we confess and repent. To give a full picture, we are warned there is sin that cannot be forgiven, and we are also warned there is a time limit.
Most of these verses have a few features in the verse totals themselves, but some have none or only a few. This is because the topic is forgiveness. It is not about God, or about His character or nature. A little inconsistency is to be expected. Even though forgiveness is absolutely vital and necessary to believers, it is not more important than God. The authority to forgive, and to be forgiven rests upon God Himself. The fact that forgiveness comes from God is why passages on forgiveness bear His mark.
