Jesus' Divine Mission
The story of the Exodus (Exodus 1:1-12:41) was the longest numeric section in the Old Testament. A similar, but shorter story is found in the New Testament. Exodus was the story of physical freedom. John 1:1-37a is the story of spiritual freedom from sin.
The opening of John's gospel also fills in the missing numeric picture of creation in Genesis. (No numeric segments were found in the first chapters of Genesis that followed Revelation 1:8.) John 1:1-37a gives the true story behind creation that was lacking in Genesis. It gives the reasons for what happened, what is occurring now, and the plan for the future. That is why John's first chapter follows Revelation 1:8, but not Genesis.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God; all things were made through him, and without him was not anything made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. He came for testimony, to bear witness to the light, that all might believe through him. He was not the light, but came to bear witness to the light.
The true light that enlightens every man was coming into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world knew him not. He came to his own home, and his own people received him not. But to all who received him, who believed in his name, he gave power to become children of God; who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.
And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, full of grace and truth; we have beheld his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father. (John bore witness to him, and cried, "This was he of whom I said, `He who comes after me ranks before me, for he was before me.'") And from his fulness have we all received, grace upon grace. For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. No one has ever seen God; the only Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, he has made him known.
And this is the testimony of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, "Who are you?" He confessed, he did not deny, but confessed, "I am not the Christ."
And they asked him, "What then? Are you Elijah?" He said, "I am not." "Are you the prophet?" And he answered, "No." They said to him then, "Who are you? Let us have an answer for those who sent us. What do you say about yourself?" He said, "I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, `Make straight the way of the Lord,' as the prophet Isaiah said."
Now they had been sent from the Pharisees. They asked him, "Then why are you baptizing, if you are neither the Christ, nor Elijah, nor the prophet?" John answered them, "I baptize with water; but among you stands one whom you do not know, even he who comes after me, the thong of whose sandal I am not worthy to untie." This took place in Bethany beyond the Jordan, where John was baptizing.
The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, "Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world! This is he of whom I said, `After me comes a man who ranks before me, for he was before me.' I myself did not know him; but for this I came baptizing with water, that he might be revealed to Israel." And John bore witness, "I saw the Spirit descend as a dove from heaven, and it remained on him. I myself did not know him; but he who sent me to baptize with water said to me, `He on whom you see the Spirit descend and remain, this is he who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.' And I have seen and have borne witness that this is the Son of God."
The next day again John was standing with two of his disciples; and he looked at Jesus as he walked, and said, "Behold, the Lamb of God!" The two disciples heard him say this, and they followed Jesus. (John 1:1-37)1

In the Greek, only the last five words of verse 37 have to be dropped. Including these words destroys the numeric features. As can be seen in the English, the sentence and thought is still complete without these last five words.
The numbers Numerics Gematria end with two witnesses (John's disciples) hearing the words of their teacher. It is superfluous to say they heard John speak. And it need not be repeated that they heard John say Jesus was the Lamb of God.
This is already repeated twice in the passage. That they left their teacher and followed Jesus is also extraneous information.
The entire text segment ends with John and his disciples so readers will know the complete origin, mission and method by which the Logos will free humanity from sin. The Logos, spoken into being by God for creation, also included the full plan of salvation for that creation. It came into creation as the Lamb to pay the ultimate penalty for sin.
Special Points To Note

The original Greek manuscripts were written only in the upper case. Lower case letters developed later. I have done the English in lower case to make the point that the two god
words θεον and θεος would be indistinguishable from each other aside from the endings in Greek.
The first god
word is accompanied with the definite article τον. That is why the first god
word θεον ends with the same letter as the definite article. The second god
word has no definite article. And this is the key to understanding what John wrote, and why he wrote it the way he did.
In Homer's Iliad, the word god
or goddess
is never preceded by a definite article. Even the plural θεοι (gods) does not have a definite article. The pre-Christian Greek understanding was a pantheon of gods. Thus the ancient Greeks had no need to distinguish between gods. The word god
just meant any god.
Contrast Homer with the New Testament. Over 75% of the time, the New Testament places the definite article with the word θεος. Christians writing in the ancient Greek followed the Jewish translation of the Septuagint. To set God apart from the Greek understanding, they did so with the definite article. They weren't just talking about any god.
They were talking about the (one and only true) God.
John understood this as well. He used the definite article for the first god
word to set it apart from any other Greek/Roman (or whatever) god in existence. This was his way of distinguishing God from god. He could have used a second definite article for the second occurrence of the god
word, but he did not. This was the opening line to his entire gospel. It was the most important line. John would not want his readers to make a mistake right at the very beginning. If he meant the two words to signify the same being, he would have made it clear with a second definite article. This means he intended the second θεος to indicate another divine being.
(This study began with the premise that God would tell us how to look for number Numerics Gematria features in the Bible. That premise would hold here too. God would not want people wasting their time speculating on spiritual matters that they can neither see nor prove. If the Trinity was true, somewhere in the Bible it would have been stated plainly, just like the instructions found in Revelation 1:8.)
Jesus is divine, but he is not God (Hebrews 1:1-8). Worshipping Jesus is allowed (Matthew 28:17; John 9:38; Revelation 1:7) but it was never a command. John never fell at Jesus' feet in the book of Revelation to worship him. The more appropriate worship is reserved for God alone (Exodus 20:2-6; Revelation 19:10).
(To say θεον and θεος refer to the one same being assumes the pre-Christian Greek language already recognized one supreme being over all others. This is a false assumption.)

The word overcome
is κατελαβεν (G2638 katalambano From G2596 and G1983; to take eagerly, that is, seize, possess, etc. (literally or figuratively): - apprehend, attain, come upon, comprehend, find, obtain, perceive, (over-) take.). The world does not understand God, Jesus or Jesus' mission. The world does not even understand life.

5Why is Genesis 1:1 and following verses not filled with numeric features like John 1:1-37a?
A scan of the first two chapters of Genesis finds 19 text segments, but only one comes close as a complete thought. This is from the third word of Genesis 1:20 to the eighth word of Genesis 1:31. It begins with the command for the waters to bring forth, and it ends with God seeing everything was good.
We are egocentric creatures. Everything we see comes from our own perspective and understanding (Proverbs 21:2, 26:12, 11). The creation in which we live is magnificent and important, but we should not be surprised that it is only a creation (Revelation 21:1, 5). How many other creations might have existed is unknown.
Creation (Genesis chapters 1 and 2) is not as important as the creation and redemption of that creation (John 1:1-37a).

Conclusion
The numbers Numerics Gematria confirm the statement in Hebrews 1:3. The Logos spoken by God bears the stamp of God's character and nature. As a result, this entire passage in John's gospel about Jesus, his divine origin, his work, and his mission to save the world all bear the same numeric features listed in Revelation 1:8.
As the second longest passage in the New Testament, there are other features. The words and letters can be loaded into two dimensional rectangles or into three dimensional blocks. But features based on Revelation 1:8 do not appear as readily, or as consistently as in The Proclamation. The reason for this is because the Logos is not the same as God. If this passage had numeric features following the principles in Revelation 1:8 in two and three dimensions one would be tempted to say the Trinity is true. The numbers Numerics Gematria do not want us to make such a mistake.
