Bible Numbers 2.0

The Story Of Jacob

The story of Jacob really begins when he leaves home. It ends when he returns to Canaan with his own family and rich possessions. From Genesis 28:2-35:14, the numbers Numerics Gematria show God’s signature on Jacob's life, journey, marriage and return.

Arise, go to Paddanaram to the house of Bethuel your mother's father; and take as wife from there one of the daughters of Laban your mother's brother. (Genesis 28:2)1

Jacob receives his father Isaac's charge to marry a relative, and not one of the Canaanites as his brother Esau. This sets the stage for Jacob to become a family separate from Esau, and ultimately as a separate nation.

And Jacob set up a pillar in the place where he had spoken with him, a pillar of stone; and he poured out a drink offering on it, and poured oil on it. (Genesis 35:14)

Jacob returns to Canaan and sets up a pillar recognizing God as his only God. Not only is Jacob now physically a separate family from Esau, but also a separate spiritual family. He gains the name Israel.

Verse Features

2Number of verses: 251. Numeric features are in the totals of the individual verses and not in the number of verses.

2.1First verse: 3016 = 2 x 2 x 2 x 13 x 29.

2.1.2Last verse of each chapter: 24052 = 2 x 2 x 7 x 859.

2.1.3Last word: 390 = 2 x 3 x 5 x 13. (SF: 23, or the number of a man, Jacob.)

2.2Last letter of each verse: 12866 = 2 x 7 x 919.

2.3.1Start with the first verse and every 7th after: 124411 = 7 x 7 x 2539.

2.3.2Begin with the first verse and every 14th after: 62755 = 5 x 7 x 11 x 163.

2.3.3With the same beginning, take every 26th verse after: 30927 = 3 x 13 x 13 x 61.

2.3.4Every 28th verse after the first verse: 33176 = 2 x 2 x 2 x 11 x 13 x 29.

2.3.5Every 52nd verse after the first: 14690 = 2 x 5 x 13 x 113. SF: 133 = 7 x 19. SF: 26 = 2 x 13.

2.3.6Starting with the first verse take and every 56th: 18298 = 2 x 7 x 1307. SF: 1316 = 2 x 2 x 7 x 47.

2.4.1We do not always have to begin with the first verse. Every 14th: 65205 = 3 x 3 x 3 x 3 x 5 x 7 x 23.

2.4.2Every 26th: 27930 = 2 x 3 x 5 x 7 x 7 x 19.

2.4.3Every 52nd: 11063 = 13 x 23 x 37.

2.5Of the 251 verse totals, 52 totals can be paired as first and last (52 = 2 x 2 x 13) to produce sums divisible by 7 or 13. Example: the 8th and 8th last verse totals: 4801 + 2492 = 7293 = 3 x 11 x 13 x 17. The 19th and 19th last totals: 3782 + 1804 = 5586 = 2 x 3 x 7 x 7 x 19. (Note: the 8th last verse is actually the 244th verse of the segment, and the 19th last verse is the 233rd verse of the segment.)

Sum of line b) 13620 (nf).

Sum of positions (a + b): 20620 = 2 x 2 x 5 x 1031. SF: 1040 = 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 5 x 13. SF: 26 = 2 x 13. (This is not quite a feature since one has to go to the factors before anything is seen. These verses are about Jacob (a man), and Israel not about God. It should not be expected for everything to be divisible by 7 or 13.)

2.6.1The first 7 verses plus the last 7 verses: 48984 = 2 x 2 x 2 x 3 x 13 x 157.

2.6.2The first 14 verses plus the last 14 verses: 102473 = 7 x 14639.

2.6.3The first 56 verses plus the last 56 verses: 376025 = 5 x 5 x 13 x 13 x 89.

Conclusion

The pattern of God’s signature described in Revelation 1:8 and set down in Exodus 34:6-7 is also seen in the events of Jacob's life as he became the nation of Israel. Although there is a break between the numbers Numerics Gematria of Abraham's story and Jacob's story, it is clear the two stories go together. Both have evidence of God’s guiding hand.

Although there appears to be another break in the numbers Numerics Gematria after Jacob's return to Canaan, this can be explained by the name Israel. Jacob is now Israel. The numbers Numerics Gematria no longer follow the family, but continue as the nation of Israel is born in the Exodus.
