Isaiah 18 (English)
On a previous page, Isaiah 18 was translated to English from Chinese and this produced numericnumbers gematria coincidences. But any translation should really start from the original Hebrew. Now that the sense of the passage has been worked out, and the meaning of the Hebrew words clearer, it is time for a better English translation from Hebrew.
Hypothesis
If an English translation of Isaiah 18 can be found with a very high number of standard numeric coincidences beyond what the odds would predict as being possible, this would confirm what has been presented previously, that human language accurately transmitting God’s message will have numeric features. If such a translation is not produced, this would detract from everything and begin strengthening the probability all this was due to some freakish coincidence.
The Experiment
Although Isaiah 18 is not a very long chapter, the possibilities for translation are immense. The English language has more words than the combined vocabularies of the Bible in Hebrew, Greek and Chinese. And there are many ways sentences can be structured. A tiny fraction of the many possible English translations is presented below.

There are over 5.14 x 1021 possibilities. This would take years to run through any computer.
Rather than go through five sextillion, the chapter will be divided into three sections. This will dramatically reduce the number of possibilities and shorten the time necessary. (This might not yield the same result as running five sextillion possibilities, but it is the most practical solution at the moment.) If standard features can be found in each section, then the whole will also work. But this also means failure in one section is complete failure for the whole.
First Section
This section starts from the opening of the chapter, and ends with the first description of the land divided by rivers. This section already has 44,236,800 possibilities.

There were two results with many standard numeric concidences. These two were very similar.
Alas land of noisy extremes beyond the rivers of Africa, which sends paper instruments of obligations across the seas, and representatives over the waters. Go swift envoys to a nation suppressed and independent, to a people respectful from their beginning hitherto, a nation stalwartly trampling line on line, whose land is divided and ruined by rivers.

The only difference is the placement of the words representatives and envoys. They switch places. The numeric total is the same, but the second result has an extra coincidence.
The numbers chose Alas
rather than Woe
and following the original Hebrew, dropped the reasons for this misfortune. It is left open as to whether the misfortune is to the land of noisy extremes, or from that land, or because of that land. Misfortune may even be for the whole world, and not just the two lands mentioned. This maintains flexibility. It could be all of the above.
Out of three choices, Cush, Kush, Africa the numbers selected Africa
removing any ambiguity. This in turn makes it clear the United States is the land of noisy extremes
that sends out paper instruments of obligations
(treaties, alliances, trade agreements, documents outlining economic sanctions, derivatives, and financial instruments like collateral debt obligations, bonds, stocks, certificates etc).
By using two words (envoys, representatives) for the same Hebrew word מַלְאָכִ֣ים, the numbers cover the widest possible meaning and is more inclusive: government officials, and nongovernmental messengers.
The messengers are not going to a democracy. The people are suppressed. But it is a nation unlike any other, for the longest time being completely independent in language, culture, history and economics. Its people have centuries of time being respectful and numerous. It is a land of rivers, but also a land in severe danger from those rivers.
Middle Section
The middle begins with God’s admonishment for people to watch and listen, and ends with the beasts of the earth feeding through the winter. The section has 11,943,936 possibilities.

Only one result had the highest number of coincidences.
All inhabitants of the world and dwellers on the earth, when a flag is lifted up on the mountains watch, and when the bugle blows pay heed. Thus the Lord God said to me,From my dwelling quietly watching as hot dry air in sunlight drying the dew before harvest; before the grape flower buds ripen he will cut away the sprigs with pruning hooks, and the overspreading branches he will cut down and take away. They shall be left for the mountain birds of prey and left for the wild beasts of the earth. The predatory birds will eat through the summer and the wild beasts of the earth will eat through the winter.
The Hebrew word to see
תִּרְא֔וּ has very wide meaning. Out of three possibilities (see, look, watch), the numbers chose watch
which requires more attention than just see
or look
in English. This also goes with the next part, where the numbers selected pay heed
for the Hebrew word תִּשְׁמָֽעוּ. The Hebrew word is not just hearing
but also listening and understanding.
In verse 4, the Hebrew does not have the word Elohim
or El
to go with God’s name יְהוָה֙ but for the English, I chose the Lord God deliberately to convey the uniqueness of the name. (English does not have a dedicated term for God like the Chinese 上帝 showing deity, sovereignty and supremacy.) Since this extra word is not in the original Hebrew, it has been italicized.
Last Section
The last section opens with the bringing of gifts, and continues to the end of the chapter. The end section has 9,732,096 possibilities.

There was one result.
She will bring a gift in that time to the Lord God of Hosts, by a people suppressed and independent, a people respectful from their beginnings till now, a nation stalwartly trampling line on line, whose land is destroyed by rivers, to the place named Mount Zion of the Lord of Hosts.
It was a 50-50 chance the higher number of coincidences would choose She
a term which in Hebrew הַהִ֨יא is unexpressed outside the Pentateuch unless the phrase is emphatic (see Strong's definition for H1931). Since the next word is יֽוּבַל which is used for bringing
sacrifices and offerings, this would appear to be special, or emphatic. When we consider the development of a language, it makes no sense to have a feminine form הַהִ֨יא and not express it, unless this became a habit later. In other words, the numbers chose an older meaning, possibly reaching back before the confusion of languages (Genesis 11:1-9).
The coincidences in the last part agree with the coincidences in the first part that these people are suppressed and independent
and that respect is part of their character.
In the first part, the land is divided and ruined
by rivers. The Hebrew word בָּזְא֤וּ has two possible meanings, divide
and spoil.
Here in the last part, the coincidences side with spoil selecting the English word destroyed.
In this last part, there was the option of choosing the Lord
or the Lord God.
The numbers picked the Lord God
first, and then the Lord
for the very last verse.

This would reduce the initial odds to one in eight billion, which is still an extremely rare occurrence. Like the other experiments presented here, this really should not have been found. To continually succeed against the odds means this is not coincidence.
Confirmation
The Chinese version of Isaiah 18 had a numeric coincidence called the Chain.
The value of the Chinese characters for various places (China, America, and Africa) were used as a positions inside the chapter. The character value found in that position was then used as another position within the chapter. This continued until the sequence of character values repeated. (Where the value of the character exceeded the number of characters in the passage, it wrapped around to the beginning.) And curious enough, the resulting sequences were either divisible by 7 or 13.
A similar coincidence exists in this English version. The English numbers for China are 3-7-30-1, for a total of 41. The 41st word is hitherto
with a value of 234. The 234th word of the chapter wraps around to the 11th (234 - 223 = 11): which
. The 11th word has a value of 117, which leads to the word the
with a value of 87. 87 leads to the word God

The words form a nonsensical sentence: hitherto which the God Africa is.
But the value of the words found is 588 = 2 x 2 x 3 x 7 x 7. The sum of the factors is 21 (3 x 7). This coincidence supports the idea that the prophecy is about China.

Why does China and Africa result in totals divisible by 7, but America does not? Because America is the nation that will be cut down.

In the Chinese version of Isaiah 18, Woe to Africa
, Woe to China
and Woe to America
all resulted in chains divisible by 7 or 13. Here in the English version, Alas America
is the only one that produces anything. The result is a chain exactly like the one for Mount Zion. (Alas
is used here because the English passage does not use the word Woe.

all have no result.) It would seem the numbers are singling out America either as the cause of mistfortune, or for misfortune. But why is the result exactly the same as Mount Zion's? Mount Zion represents God’s name, and gifts are brought to honour that name. But America is not the nation bringing gifts in the prophecy. America is the nation cut down early by God’s judgment.
Second Confirmation
As stated previously, America is the land that sends out envoys along with financial and political constraints. The representatives of America (government, corporate and others) go to China. What happens if Isaiah 18 is updated with this in mind and ambiguity removed from the passage? Would a high number of standard numeric coincidences still be found?
The words America
and China
are inserted as fixed words, not as options. The word China replaces the entire description of the land the envoys are visiting, and this is also repeated for the description at the end. This removes ambiguity as to which nations are central to the prophecy and greatly simplifies many options.
Finally, the word Hosts
is modernized with myriad myriads
to reflect the vast expansion of human population (and numbers) since the prophecy was written. Myriad myriads
more accurately reflects Daniel 7:10 and Revelation 9:16.
Even though some of the other options are expanded, this only results in 15,925,248 possibilities for the entire chapter. This is slightly less than a quarter of the possibilities run through above, and greatly reduces the chance of finding a result with the same number of standard numeric coincidences, or higher.

There are 26 numeric coincidences with this much shorter passage. This is five more than in the result above! 726 is approximately 9 sextillion. By running 15 million possibilities, this reduces the odds to one in 589 trillion. Once again the seemingly impossible appears.
Not only do the numbers appear to confirm the prophecy is about America and China, but it strengthens the interpretation of America being destroyed and China being the nation that honours God.
The Chain
feature produces nothing with this second version. Perhaps the reason is because China and America are already in the text. There no longer is a need for it.
(Switch the two nations around in the passage so that it is China beyond the rivers of Africa, and America is the one that brings gifts. The result is the complete removal of any numeric coincidences. It just doesn't work.)
Third Confirmation
Many of the Hebrew words in Isaiah 18 have more than one meaning. The English word choices in the previous sections focus only on a few of those possibilities. Some of those choices were not accurate reflections of the Hebrew. Would it be possible to produce an English version with some of the more exact meanings and still maintain the number of numeric features? And would it also be possible to reduce the number of combinations tried? This is trying to find more numeric features with less. In other words, stack the deck so it should fail.
Let's assume the basic sense of the first verse is now quite clear. It will be left as is with no other alternatives in the wording.
Woe land of noisy extremes beyond the rivers of Africa
Verse two is mostly the same, but English words are chosen following the general meaning of the Hebrew words. This allows the word to be understood in a much wider context without restricting the prophecy. There will be no text alternatives for this section either.

This is the first part of the second verse that has a choice in wording. Polished
is one of the meanings of the Hebrew word מורט. Referring to a people's polished
behaviour, one could also say, refined

Translators are evenly split in how they understand the Hebrew word והלאה. Half of them translate it as beyond (as in distance), and half of them translate it as beyond (as in time). There is no reason to think Isaiah meant one or the other. He could just as easily have meant both. Thus these people are respected near and far (distance) and from their beginning onwards (time).
Translators believe the Hebrew expression קו קו is an idiom for something fixed, and hence the idea of endurance or being stalwart. The literal meaning of the Hebrew words is line line
. Once again it is possible Isaiah meant both. Thus both meanings are included.
For the very last part of verse 2, there is a choice in the order of the words. The Hebrew word בזאו could mean divided
and it could mean spoiled
(because it was divided). Once again let us assume Isaiah meant both and was using poetry to be as brief and yet descriptive as possible.

It is natural to say God has a place to dwell in, but this a human limitation. No dwelling is big or great enough to contain God. The Hebrew word במכוני could simply mean place
rather than a dwelling.
Given the context, of the four possible meanings of the Hebrew word צח (clear, bright, dazzling, white), only two would really fit: bright and dazzling. Clear light
doesn't quite make sense. White light
seems superfluous.

which is where the KJV obtained their translation of herbs.

Compared with the previous two exercises, word choices have been severely limited and word arrangements have been pared. But this is all in an attempt to follow the original Hebrew as closely as possible.

Unlike the two previous attempts, even the positions of the first and last letters of each word produce a numeric feature.
Rather than just taking every other letter, it is possible to take every two letters, or every other group of N letters. The resulting lists with totals divisible by 7 and or 13 can then be broken down again. This process can be repeated again and again and again. Over 2000 can be found!
How is it possible that following the Hebrew as closely as possible produced an English passage with even more numeric features? This was after reducing the number of word choices, and limiting the arrangement of words to severely curtail the number of combinations. This should have failed, but succeeded with even more!
Conclusion
Once again the odds were against anything like this being found. But it didn't happen just once. It happened three times! Now there is an English translation of Isaiah 18 that follows the Hebrew more closely and an interpretation. Both bear a marvelous number of numeric coincidences.

Notes
Isaiah 18 is the only experiment where multiple tries (17 of them in all) were used to achieve the results seen above. The total number of phrases generated: 497,804,544. It was only after the 14th attempt that I realized I had somehow missed
inhabitants of the world and dwellers on the earth
. I had accidentally simplified it to eitherinhabitants on earth
ordwellers on earth
. This invalidated all the results from those 14 tries.Correcting this mistake led to the experiment above with an extensive expansion of word choices. But the experiment had so many permutations it was impossible to run. It would have taken more than my lifetime. The only way it could be attempted would be by breaking the chapter into three sections. This brought the total number of attempts to 17. Thus only 65,912,832 of the 497,804,544 phrases were actually used (13%).
If one wanted to be super strict, then the full number of the phrases generated from all seventeen attempts (497,804,544) should have been used in the calculation of the odds. To achieve 21 numeric coincidences would be a .00000000089 chance, or one in 1,122,018,412. The odds against finding anything, while not as high as before, are still very high.
