We Hold These Truths…
Background
Numeric features similar to God’s proclamation in Exodus 34:6-7 can be found in the second paragraph of the American Declaration of Independence.
Before going any further, a word of warning and caution to the reader.
- This does not mean God supported, approved, or was behind the American Revolution / Rebellion. To claim it was would be an abuse of the numbers Numerics Gematria, abuse of reason, and an affront to God Himself.
Who is on the Lord’s side?
makes it abundantly clear there is only one side, God’s and it is not British or American (Exodus 32:26). But how can we actually know God is not behind the American Revolution? Because the fruit of the revolution was bad (Matthew 7:18-20). See below. - Numeric features found in one paragraph mean that paragraph is unique. It does not prove, and cannot prove anything else about the rest of the American Declaration of Independence! Like science, proof is exact and specific. The remainder of the declaration exhibits nothing like Exodus 34:6-7 in numbers or meaning.
- The grievances listed in the declaration are given as justification for rebellion. Jesus never taught or advocated anything like this. He said,
My kingship is not of this world; if my kingship were of this world, my servants would fight, that I might not be handed over to the Jews; but my kingship is not from the world.
(John 18:36) The American Revolution cannot be Jesus’ kingdom because they rose up to fight. Jesus also taught,To him who strikes you on the cheek, offer the other also; and from him who takes away your coat do not withhold even your shirt. Give to every one who begs from you; and of him who takes away your goods do not ask them again.
(Luke 6:29-30) The colonists did not turn the other cheek, and demanded compensation of Britain.
One of the wisest men of the ancient world tells us true wisdom is of God and from Him (Proverbs chapter 8). False wisdom is all about us.
The declaration of independence is all about men.
Vague mention is made of nature’s God
in the first paragraph. But what does this mean? To a cautious believer it suspiciously sounds like another god.
God the Creator is acknowledged in the second paragraph, and this is the paragraph with numeric features. But this is as far as the declaration goes recognizing God. There is no teaching similar to the Bible. The rest of the text is all about excuses for revolt.
If this is the case, why does the second paragraph have numeric features like Exodus 34:6-7? Because it lists five things which are true and in line with the Bible.
- It is
self-evident.
Only fools say there is no God (Psalm 14:1 & 53:1). For most of human history, people believed they were created, if not by a supreme God then at least by some divine power. - God exists. This is why there are numeric features running parallel with Exodus 34:6-7.
- God created us (Genesis 1:26).
- We are all equal in God’s sight (Job 34:19; Acts 10:34; Romans 2:11).
- God gave good things to us (James 1:17).
Throughout history people have claimed God for their own purposes. The American Declaration of Independence is no different in hypocrisy. The founders of America had nothing greater to appeal to than God, and thus God the Creator is given this brief acknowledgement. This one paragraph is their testimony against themselves.
Jesus said,
Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. You will know them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thorns, or figs from thistles? (Matthew 7:14-15 emphasis added)1
God freed a nation of slaves so they could serve Him (Exodus 3:12). What did the founders of America serve? They worshipped the gifts (life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness) and not the giver. They considered God to be just one of many possible pursuits of happiness
, subordinating the eternal into a human idea. They did not free slaves (Deuteronomy 23:15). They did not forbid interest (Exodus 22:25). They profited on food (Leviticus 25:37). They did not release debts (Deuteronomy 15:1-2). In all aspects, the American Revolution was about themselves, not about God.
In the name of these three false gods, they quickly joined the British empire they so recently fought to exploit the world. They attacked the indigenous peoples of America and forced them into reservations. They sold opium to China causing untold misery. Drug dealing continues today, ofttimes with CIA involvement (see the Tom Cruise movie American Made
which is based on the life of a real American smuggler). They enforced slavery (until the Civil War). This has been replaced by child labour and wages barely above starvation levels in other countries. They used the Marshall Islanders as guinea pigs for nuclear testing. Puerto Rico, a US protectorate, pays taxes to the American government, are subject to military draft. Their governor is a figurehead, and their legislature is limited in authority and power. The real power lies with the US Congress.2
America set up and or supported ruthless dictators in many countries, and overthrew others whenever it suited their profit. Most recent examples are Venezuela, Libya, and Syria, where economic sanctions, political interference and the funding of pro-democracy groups
and rebels created a migrant crisis with millions of refugees.
(The pattern is very clear. America only supports democracy and the self determination of peoples when they can profit from it. Otherwise, prop up anyone without popular support so that they will be beholden to America for support. Make them grant concessions in trade. If they refuse, have them overthrown by the next general. Use the concessions to turn the country into a colony for American business. Ensure it does not help its own people, but benefits only a narrow spectrum of the society so they will have America's interests first. Offer generous loans to overwhelm the country's financial controls. Look the other way when money disappears.
Once the economics takes hold, the dictator is no longer necessary. He can be removed by democracy groups
funded by America and indoctrinated into accepting American rules so they will be hamstrung and helpless even if they gain office. Ensure none of these groups have full support of the population and bribe as many as possible so they are all corrupt.

The Western hemisphere has been dominated by America for practically a century now. What is the result? Rampant corruption, grinding poverty, drug cartels, high levels of debt, and three failed states (Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador) where thousands have lost all faith and hope in their own countries to join a stream of migrants headed north.
Revelation 13:16-17 tells us the anti-Christ system can prevent anyone from buying and or selling. There is only one nation with this overwhelming power today. It is the United States of America. Only the US can, does, and currently applies sanctions effectively and successfully. Prophecy has come true.
But all this does not cancel the truths of the second paragraph. It is a modern witness to the eternal God. As Jesus taught, it is not life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness
, but,
For the Gentiles seek all these things; and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things shall be yours as well. (Matthew 6:32-33)
The second paragraph is a witness that the God of the Bible is not only still here and active, but has always been and will for ever be here. He is eternal. The Bible assures us God will hold us to account for the abuse of His gifts (Matthew 24:45, 25:21).
To understand how the second paragraph differs from the rest of the declaration of independence, first we look at its origin, and then briefly examine the entire document.
Origin
Thirteen colonies were behind the American Declaration of Independence. The names and numbers of these colonies are given below.

The total is 4600 (2 x 2 x 2 x 5 x 5 x 23). Twenty-three and forty-six are the number of pairs and number of chromosomes in a human being and refer to man. This tells us the true guiding force behind the full declaration. It is not God.
The factors of 4600 add up to 39 (3 x 13). There are two possibilities for the number thirteen. 1) It represents the thirteen colonies. 2) Thirteen is related to God’s name in Hebrew. Only by going deeper do we see God’s hand in the background. Ultimately, nothing can happen unless God allows it. But just because God allows it, doesn’t mean He approves.
The Entire Document
The very first line of the American Declaration of Independence:

The total of the opening words is 1281 (3 x 7 x 61) and shows great promise. The ones at the beginning and end of 1281 are literal representations of the one and same God. The 28 in the middle is also divisible by 7. There are those who would conclude God is with the USA. That is only one conclusion, and a very premature conclusion based on extremely slim evidence.
God is present at the birth of every nation and person. He is also present throughout our lives. He will be there at the end of our lives. In
this sense, God is naturally with the USA, just as He was there with Hitler. A better assumption is that the USA was fated to happen, just as
this author was fated to be born. The numbers Numerics Gematria indicate America has an important role in history, but it does not denote anything special like predestination
or of God’s favour. (More evidence is necessary to firm up any such assumption.)
The first letter of each word adds up to 385 (5 x 7 x 11). This is even more promising, since it is in line with Revelation 1:8 and Exodus 24:6-7. But look further into the factors: 5 + 7 + 11 = 23. Twenty-three is the number Numerics Gematria of man, not God. What started with promise deteriorates at the next level. This assumption is confirmed below.
The last letter of each word yields no features. The total is 229. What began well is now confirmed as ending poorly. When the other principles from Revelation 1:8 and Exodus 34:6-7 are applied to search for features (every other word, or every other letter), no further features are found. The numbers Numerics Gematria tell the story. America began with great promise, but failed just as ancient Israel failed.
This is only the very first line of the American Declaration of Independence. What about the rest of the document?
The text of the document has 1323 words (3 x 3 x 3 x 7 x 7). Once again this is promising, but if The unanimous declaration-
is included, there would be 1333 words and this is not divisible by 7.
There are 4502 letters in the document. It is not divisible by 7. Even if the 37 letters above were included it would not be divisible by 7.
The full text of the declaration has a numeric sum of 186089 (379 x 491). Because it is not divisible by seven, it cancels out the feature in the opening words.
The first letters of each word in the full text come to 49555. The last letters of each word: 70983. First and last: 49555 + 70983 = 120538. Not one of these numbers is divisible by 7. Nor are the even positioned words, odd positioned letters or even positioned letters divisible by 7.
Only the sum of the odd positioned words works: 95697 = 3 x 3 x 7 x 7 x 7 x 31. However, since the opening statement does not have its odd positioned words divisible by seven, this would mean adding the opening statement to the full text would destroy this feature.
- Every 7th word of the full text: 27839 = 7 x 41 x 97.
- Starting with the first letter and every 7th letter after: 26803 = 7 x 7 x 547.
- Every 13th letter: 13104 = 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 3 x 3 x 7 x 13.
These three features disappear once the opening text is included.
We can include the names of the 56 signatories at the end of the document. The names have been appended according to the list of states from north to south. (This may not have been the order in which they actually signed.) Total: 207804 = 2 x 2 x 3 x 17317. No feature.
- The total of the first letters of each word in this case: 53851 = 7 x 7 x 7 x 157.
- The total of the last letters of each word: 76810 = 2 x 5 x 7681.
(Once again the numbers Numerics Gematria confirm the previous assumption. The first letters show America began with exceedingly great promise. Alas the last letters predict her failure.)
First plus last yields no feature, but if the positions of the first and last letters of each word were added, then the result is: 7223587 = 7 x 23 x 44867. The number 23 reminds us of the strong human element in America.
Even positioned words: 103207 = 13 x 17 x 467. SF: 497 = 7 x 71. SF: 78 = 2 x 3 x 13. Normally, the number thirteen represents God’s name. However, in this case there is some doubt. This is not a passage from the Bible. This is a document written by men representing thirteen colonies. Since the entire total is not divisible by 13, and since every other letter is not, this 13 stands alone representing the original thirteen colonies. The rest of the numbers Numerics Gematria most likely represent the states that joined later.
Now with everything in proper perspective, we turn to the numeric features in the second paragraph.
The Second Paragraph
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.
(From this point onwards, the Declaration of Independence's second paragraph will be referred to as DOI-2p.)

Notice how the first three numbers all eventually end up somewhere with seven. This assures us that even though all we see are the actions of men, we know God’s plan continues.
2.1The odd positioned words and even positioned words yield no feature. Instead, group the words into odd and even groups.

The positions of the odd valued words total 351 (3 x 3 x 3 x 13). The positions of the even valued words total 279 (3 x 3 x 31). This is not quite the feature one would hope for. Nevertheless, note the similarity. There are factors of 3 in both totals. There is a factor of 13 in one, and 31 (the reverse) in the other.
2.2Refine the classification. Only note odd valued words in odd positions and even valued words in even positions.

One might think the numbers Numerics Gematria were telling us of the mixed nature of the second paragraph, or of the declaration. God is recognized, but God is not accepted as their God
and nothing is said whether the founders of America intend to obey God (Joshua 24:24).

Why doesn't the last letter of each word produce extra features like the first letter? Why doesn't it follow the feature in Exodus 7.3.2? Exodus 34:6-7 was spoken by God. The DOI-2p is the work of men. That's the difference. The work of men should not be expected to equal the work of God.
This feature appears to mirror the very first line of the declaration. The beginning is promising, but the end is not. The numbers Numerics Gematria follow what we know of the actual history of the nation. It began with freedom and quickly ended up no different from the British Empire it fought.

The very structure of the DOI-2p works just like the structure in Exodus 34:6-7. N.B. We are not applying any of this to the entire document, just the second paragraph.
Conclusion
Compared with the rest of the document, the DOI-2p is unique. It's numeric features are much more consistent and numerous. It stands alone and apart, a call for humanity to return to God. It is not about the United States, and it's not about life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. It is about God, our Creator, and the Giver of all good things.
From Revelation 1:8 and 22:13 we found instructions for discovering numeric features when God speaks about Himself: first, last, first and last, every other, and other sequences. The ideas in these two verses pointed to dimensions and structure, and numeric features were found using a passage's own structure within itself.
God’s proclamation about Himself in Exodus 34:6-7 had numeric features of first and last. The second paragraph of the American Declaration of Independence, which is also about God and His creation has a few of the same. There are also features from every other letter, as well as features when specific counts
were made pulling letters or words. This cannot be coincidence. This is evidence of the eternal God at the birth of the modern age.
Some have called America a great experiment. The Declaration of Independence was the beginning of that experiment. What is the end, or fruit
of that experiment? Perhaps a part of that fruit can be seen in this more recent statement, We lied. We cheated. We stole.

Reminder: These texts are not from the Bible. There are no spiritual lessons in the Declaration of Independence. The only reason they are included is to assure you God continues working even today. The real lesson is to seek God’s kingdom and His righteousness first, not everyone do your own thing.
