The Imperial Number

In Hebrew, the letters of God’s name (יהוה) have a total value of 26 (2 x 13). Since God’s name represents His reputation, character, and nature, the number 13 also bears these aspects.1 Thus verses with numeric features following the principles found in Revelation 1:8 bearing the factor 13 are also verses with God’s signature.

God’s reputation is of steadfast love, justice and righteousness (Jeremiah 9:23-24). God’s love is best seen in Jesus, and God’s righteousness is easily seen in the everyday mercies like the rising sun. God’s justice, however, sometimes takes a little more effort to be seen. On the large scale of history, it is seen in the ending of nations and peoples (Genesis 15:16; Isaiah 2:4; Revelation 11:18). Thus in history, the number 13 is the imperial number denoting the sealing or ending of an age or event.

Example: Chin Shih Huangti inaugurated his rule over a united China in 221 B.C. This imperial system was abolished in 1911 A.D. with the declaration of the Republic of China. Coincidentally, 221 = 13 x 17, and 1911 = 3 x 7 x 7 x 13. Counting inclusively imperial China lasted 2132 (2 x 2 x 13 x 41) years. (The crossover from B.C. to A.D. requires the subtraction of 1 year because there is no year zero, but this is added back by including the partial years of 221 B.C. and 1911 A.D.)

Three segments of text in the book of Genesis have the imperial number following the principles found in Revelation 1:8. The first shines as a bright beacon in a history filled with death (Genesis 5:17-24). The second marks the ending of the post flood age (Genesis 10:5-11:9), and the third seals the covenant of land given Abraham (Genesis 15:18-23:20). The highlighted events once again show God’s plan through history. There is salvation in Enoch's ascension, the failure of the human race, and God’s promise through Abraham to bring life to people who have only death to look forward to.

Enoch's Ascension (Genesis 5:17-24)

Genesis chapter 5 lists Adam and Eve's descendants. They were extremely long lived, but all of them died. It was during this time when death came to all men that people began calling on the name of the Lord. (Genesis 4:26)

Thus all the days of Mahalalel were eight hundred and ninety-five years; and he died. When Jared had lived a hundred and sixty-two years he became the father of Enoch. Jared lived after the birth of Enoch eight hundred years, and had other sons and daughters. Thus all the days of Jared were nine hundred and sixty-two years; and he died. When Enoch had lived sixty-five years, he became the father of Methuselah. Enoch walked with God after the birth of Methuselah three hundred years, and had other sons and daughters. Thus all the days of Enoch were three hundred and sixty-five years. Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God took him. (Genesis 5:17-24)

Enoch had an uncommon relationship with God. He walked with God for three hundred years! Enoch's centuries long friendship with God showed that death was not the only fate. And to emphasize this, God ensured the text of these verses carried His signature.

1.1.1Following Revelation 1:8, we look at the first and last numbers mentioned in this segment. There is Mahalalel's 895 years in verse seventeen, and Enoch's 365 years in verse twenty-three. 895 + 365 = 1260 = 22 x 32 x 5 x 7. SF: 22 = 2 x 11. SF: 13.

The sum of N: 1449 = 3 x 3 x 7 x 23.

Where others died, the one who loved God and walked with Him did not. Aside from Elijah, Enoch was the only other person the Bible says was raptured. Here we see the imperial number 13, the number associated with God’s Hebrew name. It shines as a bright spot in the darkness of a human history filled with death.

From The Flood To Babel (Genesis 10:5-11:9)

Humanity started out after The Flood as one family with a common language. But people did not listen to God, and did not learn from The Flood. God scattered them over the earth and confused their languages.

The passage begins with people starting to spread out from the Ark after The Flood.

From these the coastland peoples spread. These are the sons of Japheth in their lands, each with his own language, by their families, in their nations. (Genesis 10:5)

The passage ends with Babel.

Therefore its name was called Babel, because there the LORD confused the language of all the earth; and from there the LORD scattered them abroad over the face of all the earth. (Genesis 11:9)

Canaan Given To Abraham

Genesis 15:18-23:20 documents God's covenant of land with Abraham, with the Hittites as witnesses to a part of this promise. This passage also includes Genesis 21:12, where God clearly says the land is given to Abraham's descendants through Isaac.

Peoples, nations and religions can argue all they want about who owns the land of Palestine, or who belongs there, but God has claimed it for Israel. The numbers support the meaning and importance of the text.

The segment begins with Genesis 15:18.

On that day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying, "To your descendants I give this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the river Euphrates, (Genesis 15:18)

It ends with Genesis 23:20.

The field and the cave that is in it were made over to Abraham as a possession for a burying place by the Hittites. (Genesis 23:20)

Beginning with the covenant, and ending with Abraham actually obtaining land from the Hittites forms a natural numeric section with one theme.

The imperial number signs, authenticates, and is imprinted on God's covenant with Abraham on multiple levels (chapter, verse, word and letter), and in multiple dimensions. This is not coincidence. We can be sure the account in Genesis is true and accurate. Isaac was the child of promise, not Ishmael, and the descendants of Isaac were to inherit the land of Canaan. Let all nations, peoples and religions beware of interfering with this inheritance.

Conclusion

The ascension of Enoch, his rapture and escaping of death is what humanity longs for. But humanity's failure meant only a continuation of death, the scattering of the peoples and the confusion of language. Because people would not listen to God, they ended up not even capable of listening to each other. God’s mercy prevails. He planned to call out a people for Himself, and this began with Abraham.

Notes

  1. God created everything and called it very good. (Genesis 1:31) That includes numbers. There are no bad numbers. People don't like the number 13, and became superstitious about it because it was associated with God. Anyone outside of God’s will goes against the laws of God, and against the natural order of the universe. Naturally such people will have trouble, and they erroneously associate it with the number.
