An Answer Before The Question
(Ezra 9:11-14 & Jeremiah 29:1-31:6)
These two passages are not normally associated together. Ezra's passage is a question with no answer. Jeremiah's passage is an answer from God. Common numeric features tie the two passages together. God’s answer preceded Ezra's question by at least 70 years. Here we have the truth from the prophet Isaiah:
Before they call I will answer, while they are yet speaking I will hear. (Isaiah 65:24)1
God had already answered Ezra. Those who seek Him with all their heart, would find Him (Jeremiah 29:13). Until that time, the remnant of Israel would continue to be purged and purified.
Ezra posed a question of what would happen to Israel if they continued to disobey and intermarried with foreigners. God had already anticipated this question in Jeremiah 29:1-31:6. A future is guaranteed for Israel. There will be a faithful remnant no matter what happens. Both passages bear similar numeric features showing the connection. They are also very close in terms of chronology. No other Bible passages within their time frame have such similar features.
Ezra's Question
which thou didst command by thy servants the prophets, saying, `The land which you are entering, to take possession of it, is a land unclean with the pollutions of the peoples of the lands, with their abominations which have filled it from end to end with their uncleanness.
Therefore give not your daughters to their sons, neither take their daughters for your sons, and never seek their peace or prosperity, that you may be strong, and eat the good of the land, and leave it for an inheritance to your children for ever.'
And after all that has come upon us for our evil deeds and for our great guilt, seeing that thou, our God, hast punished us less than our iniquities deserved and hast given us such a remnant as this,
shall we break thy commandments again and intermarry with the peoples who practice these abominations? Wouldst thou not be angry with us till thou wouldst consume us, so that there should be no remnant, nor any to escape? (Ezra 9:11-14)
By beginning the translation of Ezra 9:11 with the word which
, the RSV makes this verse sound like an incomplete thought. The very first Hebrew word is אשר, a word that is also found in Exodus 3:14 for the cryptic phrase I am that I am.

. This would render verse 11 a complete thought in English in context with the three verses after it: That thou didst command... and after all that has come upon us... shall we break thy commandments?

1.2.3Not only are the first three features divisible by 7, but they are all divisible by 11 as well. Eleven is the numeric visual representation of the one God who is beginning and end. In the Bible it is also a number associated with the idea of instruction. Even though God does not speak, and is not seen in the book of Ezra, He is clearly present.
Curiously, the four verse totals could all be strung together as a very large number which is also divisible by 11: 7639872751855091 = 11 x 313 x 2218958103937. They can also be split into halves as two digit numbers, just as 11 can be separated into 1 and 1: 76 39 87 27 51 85 50 91. The sum of these two digit numbers is once again a multiple of 11: 506 = 2 x 11 x 23. And finally, the four verse totals could be turned into two numbers: 76398727 + 51855091 = 128253818 (2 x 7 x 11 x 211 x 3947), and still have the factor 11.

Adding the two together also fails, but it succeeds in a different way: 3722 + 3995 = 7717. The result is a prime number with three digits of seven.
2.7.4.5Letters can also be referenced by their position within a word. In this case, the first letter of a word is always in position one. There are 82 words, so the total would simply be 82. The positions of the last letter of each word is the length of the word in terms of letters:

In this case, the total is 355 (i.e. the number of letters in the passage). First and last together: 82 + 355 = 437 (19 x 23). The factor of 23 clearly shows this passage was written by a man, Ezra. The sum of the factors is divisible by 7: 42 = 2 x 3 x 7.
The words are marvellously positioned by their first and last letters.

There were two results in 3.0.2, and the second result in 3.0.2 went much further with the factors. There is only one result in 3.0.3, but it is divisible by 13 twice.

Conclusion
For people like Ezra, who were devout and serious about worshipping God, the question has always been, what about all the others who aren't so serious, or perhaps completely negligent towards God? The question arose because Israel was supposed to be God’s people, and a kingdom for God. Sinners do affect believers, sometimes with devastating consequences. But religion cannot be compelled. God assures those who do believe that there is a future and hope (Jeremiah 29:11). God had Jeremiah write a letter to the exiles to expand their horizons. They were to seek the welfare of the foreign city to which they had been exiled (Jeremiah 29:7). Israel was never meant to be a self-centred insulated people. Those who do not pay heed will suffer worse (Jeremiah 29:17). The orderly numeric features assure us this is true.
