Bible Numbers 2.0

The Philadelphia Experiment In English

Previously, it was demonstrated that the Greek text of Revelation 3:7-13 could be translated into Chinese and have even more numeric coincidences. The fact that this succeeded with only a tiny fraction of possible attempts, with each attempt restricted by what has already been produced in Chinese Bibles shows the importance of the meaning of the text. It isn't the language, but the meaning.

To further show that it is the meaning, and not just a fluke of language, the following experiment will produce an English version of Revelation 3:7-13 with an amazing number of coincidences. Similar to the experiment in Chinese, this experiment will be restricted by the phrases (and vocabulary) found in the King James Version, the American Standard Version, and the Revised Standard Version.1

Note: The current method of converting English to numbers is imperfect. Vowels, except for A and Y, have no value and are ignored. This means the first person singular pronoun I would result in a word with no value and no letter value. To work around this, the first person singular is amended like the other one letter English word consisting of a single vowel O (oh, ohh, ohhh). Since the letter h has the value of 7, adding it won't change whether a passage is divisible by 7 or not. And the h acts as a place holder for a word or letter that would normally disappear. This is only done for this experiment.

Relevation 3:7-13 is presented below from the three Bible versions.

KJV
7 And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These things
saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David,
he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth;
8 I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no
man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word,
and hast not denied my name.
9 Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they
are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and
worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee.
10 Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep
thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world,
to try them that dwell upon the earth.
11 Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man
take thy crown.
12 Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God,
and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my
God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which
cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new
name.
13 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the
churches.

ASV
7 And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write: These things
saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David,
he that openeth and none shall shut, and that shutteth and none openeth:
8 I know thy works (behold, I have set before thee a door opened, which
none can shut), that thou hast a little power, and didst keep my word,
and didst not deny my name.
9 Behold, I give of the synagogue of Satan, of them that say they are
Jews, and they are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and
worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee.
10 Because thou didst keep the word of my patience, I also will keep
thee from the hour of trial, that (hour) which is to come upon the whole
world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.
11 I come quickly: hold fast that which thou hast, that no one take thy
crown.
12 He that overcometh, I will make him a pillar in the temple of my God,
and he shall go out thence no more: and I will write upon him the name
of my God, and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which
cometh down out of heaven from my God, and mine own new name.
13 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith to the
churches.

RSV
7 "And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write: `The words of
the holy one, the true one, who has the key of David, who opens and no
one shall shut, who shuts and no one opens.
8 "`I know your works. Behold, I have set before you an open door,
which no one is able to shut; I know that you have but little power,
and yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name.
9 Behold, I will make those of the synagogue of Satan who say that
they are Jews and are not, but lie -- behold, I will make them come
and bow down before your feet, and learn that I have loved you.
10 Because you have kept my word of patient endurance, I will keep
you from the hour of trial which is coming on the whole world, to try
those who dwell upon the earth.
11 I am coming soon; hold fast what you have, so that no one may
seize your crown.
12 He who conquers, I will make him a pillar in the temple of my
God; never shall he go out of it, and I will write on him the name of
my God, and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem which
comes down from my God out of heaven, and my own new name.
13 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the
churches.'

Total: 28217 = 7 x 29 x 139. SF: 175 = 52 x 7.

Odd positioned words: 14896 = 24 x 72 x 19.

Even positioned words: 13321 = 7 x 11 x 173.

Odd valued words: 10801 = 7 x 1543.

Even valued words: 17416 = 23 x 7 x 311.

First half of the words: 14301 = 32 x 7 x 227.

Last half of the words: 13916 = 22 x 72 x 71.

Odd positioned letters: 15365 = 5 x 7 x 439.

Even positioned eltters: 12852 = 22 x 33 x 7 x 17.

The letters of the English passage can be split into groups of 71.

Odd positioned groups of 71: 16191 = 32 x 7 x 257.

Even positioned groups of 71: 12026 = 2 x 7 x 859. SF: 868 = 22 x 7 x 31. SF: 42 = 2 x 3 x 7.

Odd valued letters: 1001 = 7 x 11 x 13.

Even valued letters: 27216 = 24 x 35 x 7.

Positions of the first and last letter of each word: 164591 = 72 x 3359.

First and last letter of each word: 26173 = 7 x 3739.

The positions of the first and last letters of each word, and the values of those letters both yield totals divisible by seven showing perfect coordination.

This coordination deepens with the individual totals of the positions of the first letter of each word, and the positions of the last letter of each word. And it goes even further with the values of those letters. These correlations fit perfectly with Revelation 1:8's principle of complementary opposites.

Position of the first letter of each word: 82103 = 7 x 37 x 317.

First letter of each word: 11501 = 7 x 31 x 53. SF: 91 = 7 x 13.

Position of the last letter of each word: 82488 = 23 x 3 x 7 x 491. SF: 507 = 3 x 132

Last letter of each word: 14672 = 24 x 7 x 131.

Pair up the 254 words (1st + 2nd, 3rd + 4th...). This produces 127 new totals.

From this paired list, find all those Nth and Nth last that are divisible by seven when paired together.

1st Item: 20 28 32 41 46 54 56
Value: 60 147 307 371 187 30 187
Last Item: 108 100 96 87 82 74 72
Value: 388 42 190 791 121 89 156
Sum: 448 189 497 1162 308 119 343

There are only seven of them. Since there are only seven of them, the sum of their positions is automatically also divisible by seven: 896 = 27 x 7. SF: 21 = 3 x 7.

Repeat the exercise, but this time find only those that when paired are divisible by thirteen. Again there are only seven of them.

1st Item: 3 6 11 18 37 39 63
Value: 92 350 147 264 227 133 404
Last Item: 125 122 117 110 91 89 65

Sum: 429 442 507 481 377 247 611

In this case, the paired values which were divisible by 13 have an extra coincidence when they are all added together: 3094 = 2 x 7 x 13 x 17. SF: 39 = 3 x 13.

There are 639 letters. Rather than pairing these, they are grouped in threes. Each triplet is added, producing a new list of 213 totals.

Pair up the totals Nth and Nth last, and search for those that together are divisible by 7.

1st Item: 7 8 12 17 32 41 59 63 85 91 93 97 101
Value: 77 15 157 87 157 79 200 129 361 16 117 51 365

Sum: 238 182 245 427 294 105 231 266 455 133 189 168 532

There are exactly 13 of them. This means their positions together would automatically be divisible by 13: 2782 = 2 x 13 x 107.

The 639 letters could also have been grouped in nines producing 71 new totals.

239 182 149 485 351 562 392 272 551 272 355 292 633 269 395 253 233

The Nth and Nth last of this new list that are divisible by seven is presented below.

1st Item: 12 17 18 22 29 30 34
Value: 292 233 390 526 574 640 543

Sum: 1092 518 875 1820 952 889 868

Again there are exactly seven of them. And once again this automatically means their positions together is divisible by seven: 504 = 2 x 2 x 2 x 3 x 3 x 7.

The 639 letters could be nine groups of 71 each.

2623 2922 3768 3186 3302 2737 3734 3181 2764

The group in the very middle, 3302, is the only one divisible by 13.

Since the first and last letters of each word, and their positions in the passage all had individual features, this bears looking into. One letter appeared the most (46 times): 7.

The first and last letters of each word can be added together forming 254 paired totals. This new list can be divided into two almost equal groups of alternating sizes when the group sizes are 7 and 6, 63 and 64, 64 and 63, and 85 and 84. In this case, only the group sizes 63 and 64 works. Curiously 63 + 64 = 127, which is exactly half the number of paired values.

A Second Experiment

Just using three English Bible versions of Revelation 3:7-13 provided enough variation to put together a passage with an amazing number of numeric coincidences. Might this not be normally possible after running 25.5 million combinations? Would it be easy or would it be difficult to produce a similar result with a different text? To answer this requires another experiment.

Can numeric coincidences be produced in the first part of the American Declaration Of Independence (ADOI)? To approximate the length of the passage in Revelation 3:7-13, the first 295 words of the ADOI are chosen. (This is the preamble.)

A Declaration by the Representatives of the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, in General Congress assembled. WHEN in the Course of human Events it becomes necessary for one People to dissolve the Political Bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the Powers of the Earth the separate & equal Station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent Respect to the Opinions of Mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the Separation. WE hold these Truths to be self-evident: that all Men are created equal; that they are endowed by their creator with inherent and* [certain] inalienable rights; that among these are life, liberty, & the pursuit of happiness: that to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed; that whenever any form of government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or abolish it, & to institute new government, laying it's foundation on such principles, & organizing it's powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their safety & happiness. Prudence indeed will dictate that governments long established should not be changed for light & transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shown that mankind are more disposed to suffer while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses & usurpations begun at a distinguished period and pursuing invariably the same object, evinces a design to reduce them under absolute despotism, it is their right, it is their duty to throw off such government, & to provide new guards for their future security.

The rough draft of the ADOI can be found here with possible word variations. Combining this information with The Papers of Thomas Jefferson, Volume 1: 1760-1776 (Princeton University Press, 1950), pp423-28, and The Declaration of Independence: A Study on the History of Political Ideas (New York: Harcourt, Brace and Co., 1922) does not provide very many word alternatives for this first part. As a result, many of the alternatives below had to be drawn from a thesaurus rather than from actual historical documents. To keep the main text as close to the historical as possible, alternate word choices were restricted to certain sections. Otherwise, alternate word choices scattered through the first part would definitely change the appearance and tone of the ADOI.

These two opening words are kept as is.

A Declaration

Thomas Jefferson at first wrote A Declaration of the Representatives. This was later changed to A Declaration by the Representatives. This provides the first word choice: of or by.

These results look impressive until they are compared with the English passage on the Philadelphian church. The number of word choices makes it clear deliberate textual manipulation was necessary. The positions of the first letter of each word in this version of the ADOI do not match those in Philadelphia. Nor do the positions of the last letter of each word work. —under absolute despotism has changed to arbitrary power and the meaning suffers.

To obtain numeric coincidences comparable with Revelation 3:7-13 in English would require repeated attempts with no guarantee of success. That the passage on the Philadelphian church succeeded with one try and minimal manipulating of the text is astonishing.

Conclusion

The experiment with Chinese for Revelation 3:7-13 required only 39366 possibilities! The English took over 25.5 million. There is a difference of several magnitudes. It is true that running more possibilities is more likely to find something. But as can be seen in the experiment on the ADOI, more possibilities does not always result in better meaning. All this reveals the uniqueness of the experiment in Chinese on Revelation 3:7-13. Less than 40,000 possibilities produced an amazing passage. This should not have been possible. It was possible because the original meaning was divinely inspired. (This also means the ADOI was not divinely inspired. And this can be historically proven because the ADOI contains a racist falsehood.2)

Notes

  1. The English language has more than a million words. This increases the number of possibilities available, making it easier to construct a passage with numeric coincidences. If the experiment was not restricted to just three Bible versions, a skeptic would rightly say this was manufactured and not by chance.

  2. In the indictment section of the ADOI is this statement of claim: He has excited domestic insurrections amongst us, and has endeavoured to bring on the inhabitants of our frontiers, the merciless Indian Savages whose known rule of warfare, is an undistinguished destruction of all ages, sexes and conditions. The native Indians are called Indian Savages. They are claimed to destroy all, men, women and children.

The native Indians were not savages. They did not kill women and children. They did not abuse women and children. This was something Europeans did in many of their wars, and it was imputed upon natives from their own Euro-centric perspective. Several Papal Bulls, formed the basis of The Doctrine of Discovery in the 1400s, where non-Christians (heathens) were not considered people so Europeans could consider their land empty and take it. It was institutionalized by churches and provided religious justification for racism. This was a precept of men taught as doctrine, something Jesus condemned (Matthew 15:9). These racist attitudes were enshrined and embedded into the ADOI with the false statement.

Even in war, European women were often surprised to find that they went unmolested by their Indian captors. Mary Rowlandson said of her own captivity: “I have been in the midst of roaring Lions, and Savage Bears, that feared neither God, nor Man, nor the Devil ... and yet not one of them ever offered the least abuse of unchastity to me in word or action.” William Apess (Pequot) asked in the 1800s, “Where, in the records of Indian barbarity, can we point to a violated female”? Even Brigadier General James Clinton of the Continental Army said to his soldiers in 1779, as he sent them off to destroy the Iroquois nation, “Bad as the savages are, they never violate the chastity of any women, their prisoners.”
