The Compassionate God

God is compassionate. The wonder of it is that the God who meticulously planned and executed creation also took care to include the same loving care numerically in the writing of the Bible.

This means He hears prayer. He hears anyone in distress who calls upon Him. We know this because the Bible says so. Exodus 22:27b is one passage telling us God hears the cry of those who are suffering because He is compassionate.1 This is very comforting as the signs of the end accelerate and the world heads towards Armageddon.

The basic number features in this verse follow those in The Proclamation. This similarity shows it was God who said it. The numbers also assure us the statement is true and can be trusted.

—for that is his only covering, it is his mantle for his body; in what else shall he sleep? And if he cries to me, I will hear, for I am compassionate. (Exodus 22:273)

The last seven words of the verse are the pertinent section. This might not be grammatically correct Hebrew, but the thought is complete and clear.

The Relationship With The Proclamation

1The numeric total: 1372 = 22 x 73. Not only is the total divisible by 7, but like Exodus 34:6-7 it is divisible by 7 three times.

1.1Since both passages are where God describes Himself, their totals can be added. Because both passages were divisible by 7 three times, the end result of adding them would also produce a number divisible by 343. Thus the only reason for adding them would be to see if an extra factor of 7 might arise. It does not. 6174 + 1372 = 7546 = 2 x 7 x 7 x 7 x 11. But addition is not the only possible mathematical operation. There is subtraction. Difference is more in line with comparison. The numeric difference between The Proclamation (6174) and the pertinent section (1372) of this verse is 4802 (2 x 7 x 7 x 7 x 7). An extra factor of 7 appears.

1.2From the beginning of Exodus 22:26 to the end of Exodus 34:7 there are 364 verses (22 x 7 x 13).

1.3The Proclamation had 119 letters. This passage had 24 letters. 119 + 24 = 143 (11 x 13).

1.4This does not work with the words. However, 33 − 7 = 26 (2 x 13).

1.5If one looked at the result from the letters and words together, one might add the result together; 143 + 26 = 169 (132). An extra 13 appears.

1.6Since God’s name in Hebrew (יהוה) is not in the text, someone might doubt this is from or about Him. The numeric values for the Hebrew name are used seven times to count through this short passage.

Total: 5488 = 24 x 73. Incredibly the result is also divisible by 7 three times.

2.In Revelation 1:8, God said He was the Alpha and the Omega. This appeared in The Proclamation as the total of the first letter of each word, and the total of the last letter of each word. First and last totals were together divisible by seven, and also individually divisible by seven. With Exodus 22:27b, the totals are not individually divisible by seven, but they are when added together.

The total of the letters: 200 = 23 x 52 (nf).

First and last letters together: 266 = 2 x 7 x 19. SF: 28 = 22 x 7.

3.God also said He is, was and is to come in Revelation 1:8. This places was, the past next to is to come, the future. There is a gap between the two. Thus in The Proclamation, every other letter was divisible by seven. The same can be applied here.

3.4Odd and even positioned letters are based on the entire passage. But each word is also a beginning and ending. Letters can also have odd or even positions relative to the word where they reside.

Letter total: 770 = 2 x 5 x 7 x 11.

Although it is a one in forty-nine chance that the odd and even positions in the passage produce totals divisible by seven, and although it is the same with the odd and even positions within each word, constructing such phrase would be extremely difficult. It seems unlikely this was due to random chance.

4.In feature 1.6, the values the letters of God's name in Hebrew could count through the words. Amazingly, they can be used seven times to count through the letters just like it was with the words.

Total: 1568 = 25 x 72.

5.Beginning with the first letter, and taking every second (2) letter after produces a total that is divisible by seven. The only other sequence that works is taking every fifth (5) letter after the very first letter. Why are these the only ones that produce totals divisible by seven? Because 2 + 5 = 7.

6.Not only can God's name be applied to this short passage, but the letters of The Proclamation can also be applied. There are 119 letters in The Proclamation and 24 letters in this passage. Since 119 ÷ 24 is approximately 4.958, The Proclamation's letters can be applied 4 or 5 times to the letters of this passage. In this case, it is applying 5 times that produces a result.

7.1The numeric total for the Septuagint: 2929 = 29 x 101. This is not divisible by seven or thirteen, but the factor 101 is a number visually representing the same one God who is beginning and end. The text from the Septuagint has some of the same features as the Hebrew. The match is not perfect because the Septuagint is a translation of the Hebrew, and not the original language. It should not be expected to match the Hebrew feature for feature. But there is enough to clearly demonstrate God’s compassion extends farther than we might expect.

Conclusion

The basic numeric similarity between Exodus 22:27 and The Proclamation is like a watermark showing there is one author to both passages. It is even found in the Septuagint translation of the Hebrew. In The Proclamation, God told us He is merciful and loving. But He also told us He will punish sin, and test iniquity even to the fourth generation. This is part of His justice. Some people might find that disturbing, but all that should be balanced with this verse. Here, He reiterates His love and compassion for the unfortunate. Only a truly compassionate God would take the time and care to arrange even hidden numbers to reassure us of His continuing compassion and understanding. The numbers in the language demonstrates His sustaining care for His creation. We can be sure God will take care of us as well.4

    If God was used in place of The Lord this simple phrase would not be divisible by seven. The Lord makes it divisible by seven because these two words in English were chosen to stand in for the Hebrew letters of God’s name.
    Is this coincidence, or is this divine providence?
    (N.B. The first person singular is used several times in English translations of Exodus 22:27b. This makes it impossible to check the English like the Greek Septuagint because there are no values in the current conversion system for English vowels.)
